Mercer & Sons: Service and Quality live! Who Knew!

From my days sitting at the feet of Michael Margolin (a blessed memory), I remember three things.

1. That a two-channel stereo system and an Eames lounge chair were a ticket to another world.
2. The journey into Mingus, Brahms and the Stones was better enjoyed if you wore an old-school button down shirt and dungarees.

A lot of globally-massive clothing companies cut corners on this basic staple.  A concern that is neither massive, nor stingy when it comes to quality is Mercer and Sons of Yarmouth, ME.  They advertise in the New Yorker, and Mom always told me that only the good stuff gets promoted next to the funny cartoons.

Three good things about Mercer and Sons:

1. You speak to a real human being to take your order.  In my case, I worked with Dave.  As in 'Dave Mercer', the founder of the company.

2. Down-selling!  Dave recommend that I step into the Mercer and Sons experience with a slightly more modest fabric than I had origninally considered.  Who knew!

3. Listening to the customer:  After placing the order, Dave asked a bunch of thoughtful questions about my Life.  Why?  It seems that he actually cared about the answer!

I will receive my shirts later, but I had to post about this now!
